About Me

  My love for writing came when I was a teenager. I often found myself in trouble, and mom would take away my fun time, which left me reading and writing.  While in high school a Dean read some of my poetry and entered my work in The New York City Board of Education Poetry Contest. I actually won the contest, and my award was presented to me by the late actor Earle Hyman.   It wasn't long after that growing pains caused me to put down the pen and paper in exchange for other activities.  Although I knew deep down that I still loved to write, I was drawn to explore a world that I was not ready for.   Please understand my childhood was great!   The foundation and village are part of the reason for who I am today.  Yet, writing gave me the freedom to dream about all the things I wished I had as a child growing up. I would write about the one thing missing: having my dad in my life.  This one thing - this void - forced me to dive into many things without having to make a commitment. One thing I do know for sure that no matter who God placed in my path, I always found myself sharing my story to comfort, counsel and listen... through my mask. The sad part, I realized I was tired of living through a mask while losing my identity.

 One day a Sister-friend kept asking me about writing my story.  I always thought about it (knowing how much I loved to write) but was reluctant because I did not want to be judged since what others saw - with my mask -was a strong black woman. I was so bent on pleasing everyone else that I was afraid to let "them" down. Here I stand today, by God's Grace and Mercy, sharing my story. The Bible tells us that believers triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony (Revelation 12:11). The year 2018 changed my life when I wrote my book "I'm Still Daddy's Little Girl". My heavenly Father has always been with me, and my mask has been removed.  I am no longer concerned about what others may think. I am following God's lead to share my story across the globe to be a reinforcement, a reminder that God does not judge. He sets His children free. I am soaring like an Eagle.  My prayer is to share my story with girls, women and men. A dance with Daddy can happen when we believe!
